It’s taken me a while, but I finally had my home style evolve to represent me. In the past, I purchased decor items based on what I thought looked cute in the stores. It was “cute” but it was me?
And don’t get me wrong, it didn’t necessarily look BAD, it just didn’t feel like me.
Have you ever bought an outfit that was on-trend, and super cute, but once you wore it out on the town, it just didn’t feel like you?
The color, the cut, or maybe the accessories just didn’t jive with your style?
That’s where I was with our home.
DECIDING WHAT I LIKED
It took some trial and error but I finally figured my home style out.
- Simple and pretty.
- Classic with a touch of glam.
- Easy, polished, yet comfy.
Once I had figured what I truly liked, it was my goal to make it all cohesive.
The more I think about it, you can see this cohesive style from my closet and into my home decor. My wardrobe consists of basic pieces of black/white/grey shirts with a splash of “color.” Army green or camel, denim, and some kind of flashy jewelry or shoe.
MY AT HOME STYLE
At home this means….
- white curtains
- black and white artwork in gold frames
- a simple floral arrangement on mirrored trays
- cozy throw pillows in greys and whites
- metallic lamps
- my favorite candle set on top of a stack of books
Easy, polished, yet comfy.
HOW TO FEEL AT HOME
The cohesion is what makes it feel easy. But it also makes it mine. So if you’re looking to feel most “at home”. Focus on what your core personal style looks like, and find ways to incorporate that at home. You’ll find yourself feeling more like you all of the time.
